Sleepy head

I am so tired and sleepy, blogging is addictive for sure. My eyes are tired, my back is aching, my butt hurts for sitting so long. I think my butt went flat, ouch! Ok, I need to stop now and take some sleep. Life is good I have nothing to complain. I'm thankful that I have a loving hubby. I feel so blessed because of his love and devotion to me. Alright, that's about it for today. I'm going to bed now to rest my sleepy head.

Good night peeps! See you tomorrow.

Changing my template

I have been busy trying to figure out how to change my blogger's templates into 3 columns. I keep searching for websites that features free templates for blogger and found this website that is very helpful for a new blogger like me. By following the instructions given on this website I am finally able to change my template into 3 columns although I wasn't able to use the template the one's I previously used because it won't allow me although I have tried revising it but it didn't turned out good. So I just use this template from blogger as this was one of templates that the author revised from to 2 columns into 3 columns.

Winter driving tips

The first time I drove on an icy road was very scary, my car lose it's control and drove off the road. I was just glad that hubby was with me and helped me how to handle the situation and that we were safe. Since it's winter, it is very dangerous to drive on icy roads the best advice for driving in bad winter weather is not to drive at all, if you can avoid it. However, if you are working you have no other choice but to drive anyways. I found this article that talks about winter driving tips which I think is worth sharing.

Driving safely on icy roads

  • Decrease your speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop. You should allow at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you.

  • Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.

  • Turn on your lights to increase your visibility to other motorists.

  • Keep your lights and windshield clean.

  • Use low gears to keep traction, especially on hills.

  • Don't use cruise control or overdrive on icy roads.

  • Be especially careful on bridges, overpasses and infrequently traveled roads, which will freeze first. Even at temperatures above freezing, if the conditions are wet, you might encounter ice in shady areas or on exposed roadways like bridges.

  • Don't pass snow plows and sanding trucks. The drivers have limited visibility, and you're likely to find the road in front of them worse than the road behind.

  • Don't assume your vehicle can handle all conditions. Even four-wheel and front-wheel drive vehicles can encounter trouble on winter roads.

If your rear wheels skid...

  • Take your foot off the accelerator.

  • Steer in the direction you want the front wheels to go. If your rear wheels are sliding left, steer left. If they're sliding right, steer right.

  • If your rear wheels start sliding the other way as you recover, ease the steering wheel toward that side. You might have to steer left and right a few times to get your vehicle completely under control.

  • If you have standard brakes, pump them gently.

  • If you have anti-lock brakes (ABS), do not pump the brakes. Apply steady pressure to the brakes. You will feel the brakes pulse -- this is normal.
If your front wheels skid...
  • Take your foot off the gas and shift to neutral, but don't try to steer immediately.

  • As the wheels skid sideways, they will slow the vehicle and traction will return. As it does, steer in the direction you want to go. Then put the transmission in "drive" or release the clutch, and accelerate gently.

It's a good feeling when someone treats you as a friend even if you haven't seen each other in person. Thanks a lot Joy for this friendship meme and for being a friend. Hope someday we could meet each other maybe in Davao since we are both "kababayan".

Friendship Day is a special day...It is a special time when you can tell your friends how much you appreciate them and show them how happy and thankful you are to have them...and well, it is the best to let them know how you feel everyday...A Friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway!!!

Cod Liver Oil, Rich in Omega-3s, May Protect Against Depression

Research from Norway have reported new evidence that omega-3 fish oils can help prevent depression.

Maria Boroy Raeder, MD, of Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway, and her colleagues analyzed data from a study of almost 22,000 middle age and elderly men and women. Overall, 3.6 percent of the subjects had "high levels" of depressive symptoms.

But on average, symptoms of depression were significantly lower among the people- 9 percent of the group- who took cod lever oil daily.

Symptoms of depression affected only 2.5 percent of the people taking cod liver oil, compared with 3.8 percent in the rest of the group. In effect, people taking cod liver oil were lamost 30 percent less likely to be depressed.

In addition, the prevalence of depression decreased as people took cod liver oil for longer periods of time. Raeder and her colleagues estimated that a daily doese of cod liver oil contained 0.7 to 1.2 grams of omega-3 fats, including 0.3 to 0.6 grams of eicosapentanoic acid (EPA) and an equal amount of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The cod liver oil also provide about 400 IU of Vitamin D each day.

It's our 1st Wedding Anniversary

Wow! Hubby and I couldn't believe that it has been a year since we got married. Time flies by so quickly. Life is so good when you are with someone who loves you so dearly. Even if there were some challenges but still hubby and I were able to overcome them. Our love has grown stronger each passing day. Since hubby has work today, we didn't do anything special but being with each other is the best and most special thing to have. Hubby and I just gave each other a wedding anniversary card and as usual we always bloat and shed tears everytime we get a card from each other.

To my honey, thank you very much for all the love and care. I thank God everyday for giving me the best and loving husband. Happy anniversary to both of us. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

Beware of Paypal's unconfirmed email

Hubby got an email that supposed to be coming from Paypal which said that he had an unconfirmed paypal transaction. The email showed that he had purchased an 18k diamond ring which cost $400 plus which hubby never even knew about and never purchased online. I told hubby to check his Paypal account if there was any transactions made. He checked it and good thing it didn't appear in his account. He called Paypal customer service right away and was given the instruction that if anyone received an email like the one's that hubby got, should not open that email or click any link that comes with that email coz that was fraud and someone is trying to rip you off.

Hubby re check the email over again and found out that the email had 2 senders one said Paypal and the other said it came from "Nobody@singapore" which we believe that it wasn't really from paypal at all but from someone who was doing fraudulent activities.

So, if you get an email that you didn't know who it came from specially junk mails never dare open it coz that might lead to stealing your identity and even money from your bank accounts and before you know it's all gone.

Famous Dave's

My parents in law invited me and hubby for dinner today. My mom in law wants us to pick our choice of place to dine since it's a treat for me and hubby for our Wedding Anniversary on Sunday. So, it's an advance celebration for us. Hubby and I drove by the Mall and figured out that there is a new restaurant called Famous Dave's that has just opened a month ago and so we decided to go there and try their food.

Hubby and I ordered in the menu called "Dave's Famous Feast" which is really good coz you get a lot of different foods in one big plate. For this Menu you can choose either the "All-American BBQ Feast" that serves 4-5 persons with this you will get A full slab of spareribs, a whole chicken,1/2 pound of either Texas beef brisket or Georgia chopped pork, coleslaw, Famous Fries, Wilbur Beans, four corn bread muffins and four corn-on-the-cob or you can choose "Feast for Two" that serves 2-3 persons with it you will get A half portion of the All-American BBQ Feast. Hubby and I got the Feast for Two and it was a lot for us coz we still have left over and had it to go box. Their food was really, really good. I liked their corn bread muffins very much. So, if your planning to dine in a restaurant why not try Famous Dave's check their website and see if they have their restaurant near you.

Trying to get pregnant?

I found this website a couple of months ago which will determine when will be your most fertile days and your ovulation day which will help give more chances of getting pregnant. This site offers affordable pregnancy tests that are very easy to use at home and you can even get ovulation test kit that will determine the concentration of LH (Luteinizing Hormone) in your urine samples which will increase the chances of cenceiving. When you check this website you don't have to buy anything to be able to know your ovulation day because they feature an Ovulation Calendar/Calculator which is very easy to do. You just have to enter the date of the first day of your last period and then type the average length of your cycle and it will automatically calculate your estimated ovulation day, estimated due date if you got pregnant, and even the estemated fetal age. Isn't that cool? So, if you and your hubby are planning to have a baby soon try it and check for yourself. I referred this website to a friend of mine and it worked for her because she is now in her 13 weeks of her pregnancy.

Chicken strips...

One year of being here in the US has been great so far. I am adapting to my new environment, and new culture, even getting used to the cold weather and low humidity. The first couple of months when I came here were great learning experiences for me. I remember the first time we went to a restaurant in Florida to meet my hubby's relatives. I ordered something from the menu, I ordered chicken strips which I thought would just be enough for me because I don't eat a lot. To my surprise, I ordered a huge/gigantic chicken strips which I think was good for four servings. Geez, I was really shock at how big the servings they offered when you order food here in the US and it's not cheap for sure! Well, I think all the hearsays I heard way back in the Philippines were all true that everything in the US is BIG! he,he,.......

My First year in the US

It's been a year now since I left the Philippines in January 22, 2007. Wow!!! I'm already a year here in the US. Time flies by so fast, I couldn't believe I survive leaving my beloved family, friends, and job. I thought, it's going to be so hard to be thousands of miles away from my parents and my only brother. We
